I received this product from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) for free to use and give my honest opinion.

I was so excited to try out this Lil Mixins Peanut Powder for Avery. He’s 5 months old now and his doctor told us we could start giving him food when we went to his 4 month check up. He is really interested in everyones food. He’s always trying to grab our food when we’re eating and he’s watching us like he really wants some too. I decided to try some purees with him first and he tried pears, bananas, and pumpkin. It’s recommended to start giving your baby regular, low allergy risk foods and then start adding in things that are allergy risks like peanuts and eggs. Lil Mixins is designed to start giving it to your baby between 4-6 months. Avery tried a few jars of baby food and then we started mixing in the peanut powder as recommended. It says to do two teaspoons three times a week and you can mix it with baby food, milk, or formula. We mixed it with pureed pumpkin for his first try and he loved it. I scooped the pumpkin into a bowl first and added the two teaspoons of powdered peanuts. It mixes really easily without thickening or clumping. I just had to stir a couple times and it was ready to eat.

Lil Mixins has powdered eggs as well as these powdered peanuts if you’re interested in looking and introducing them to these foods. The only ingredient in the powdered peanuts is organic peanuts so there’s no sugar, salt, additives, or GMOS’s. I love that it doesn’t thicken like powdered peanut butter when you mix it into the food. I opened the jar to smell it and it smelled really good, just like peanut butter. It would probably taste really good with apples or bananas, but both of my kids have loved pumpkin so we tried it with that first. When I mixed it into his pumpkin puree, you could smell the peanuts but it didn’t change the texture by making it any thicker which is really good. One jar should last you until baby can start eating actual peanut butter.

I’ve seen in a few health articles that babies with eczema are at a higher risk for peanut allergies and it’s another reason why introducing peanuts earlier on is so important in preventing the allergy. If you ever have any questions about your baby’s health, starting them with food, or giving them the peanut powder, I would just check with your doctor first. We discussed it with Avery’s pediatrician before he started trying it so she already knew everything that was going on and told us to go ahead with it. Avery has mild eczema and should have lotion twice a day when it’s bad. When I learned that he could be at a higher risk for a peanut allergy, I was more determined to start introducing him to peanuts early on. He’s had the Lil Mixins Peanut Powder in a few different purees now and hasn’t had any reactions or worsening of his eczema. He loves when we give him food to try, especially when we let him hold the spoons, and he loves his food with Lil Mixins too. I’ll continue mixing the powder into food or milk until he’s 1 and can have peanut butter.

    1. I haven’t tried it with milk yet, but it’s a really fine powder and mixes into the purées really quickly and easily. I do have powdered peanut butter that I mix with milk and protein powder and that mixes really well. This is a very similar texture.

  1. Our son is 6 now but we were talking the other day about how they are now suggesting introducing some allergy foods earlier than was previously recommended. Interesting!

    1. It is interesting. My oldest is two and the research and suggestions are different from when he was a baby too. I think he had peanut butter at a year if I remember right.
