Mason went on his first vacation when he was five months old. We took a road trip with my husbands parents to Whistler, Canada. It was our first time being in the car with a baby for that long so I was really nervous about how it would go. Mason actually did really well and we would take stops to eat and use the bathroom, that’s when I would feed him and change his diaper.
I had only been to Whistler once before, when it was our honeymoon. We went there during the Winter so it was fun to see it in the summer. Sean and his dad rented mountain bikes to ride on the trails on the mountain. I took Mason for a lot of walks around the village and did some shopping. We found a lot of cute chocolate shops. After the guys were done biking, we all rode the gondola up the mountain to eat at the lodge. It was a fun experience since that gondola ride is so long, it broke world records as the longest, continuos lift system and it’s the highest of its kind. It takes about 25 minutes to take a gondola up to one mountain and then you can do a Peak to Peak gondola that takes about 11 minutes to get you to another mountain. It was beautiful to watch the scenery on the mountain and it was fun getting to see the lodge when we reached the top. The food there was really good. It was our first time trying poutine and I loved it so much. It’s really hard to find it here in the United States and when we have found it, it wasn’t nearly as good as it is in Canada.
We had so much fun trying new things in Canada and can’t wait for our kids to be a little older so they can experience more things. We especially love taking road trips for vacations because you get to stop in cool places, try new restaurants, and find things you wouldn’t have known about if you weren’t driving through.
