My family had been planning a vacation since I was pregnant with Mason. They planned to drive to California, go on a cruise, and then when their cruise returned to port they were going to spend a couple days at Disneyland before heading home. We were invited and really wanted to go, but didn’t know if we would be able to since we had Mason and had a big hospital bill from his birth. My husband, Sean, had an awards night to go to for work and there was an airline representative there. She said they read letters that students wrote about teachers and they loved what someone said about Sean. He was chosen to win two first class tickets and we said right away we would use them to go to Disneyland. (Looking back now though we should have saved them to use for a longer flight)
We told my family that we would fly to California and meet them there when they got back from the cruise. Then we would all go to Disneyland together. It was nice because then we still got to spend part of the vacation together, but everyone else was already worn out from the cruise that they weren’t wanting to be at the park the whole time it was open like we were and we kept getting split up so I felt like we didn’t see them much. However, we still had a great time showing Mason Disneyland for the first time and we got to do a lot with my brother too.
It was so much fun because it was Christmas time and we normally go during the summer. We took Mason on a lot of rides like It’s a Small World, the Haunted Mansion, the Pirates of the Caribbean and a few others. I always love the food at Disney. They have the best corn dogs and it wasn’t too hot since it was November so we got hot chocolate in the souvenir cup in the evening. We watched the parade with Mason and had a blast sharing that experience with him. We love Disneyland, but it’s so much more fun and magical to go there now that we have kids and can watch them have fun and get excited about rides, flood, and characters.
I loved reading this post. Mason is adorable! I’m glad you had a great time. I’ve not been to Disneyland in California but I have been to the one in Florida twice. Disney really is the happiest place on earth! I would love to go at Christmas. Congratulations on winning the tickets – your husband must be a wonderful teacher.
Thank you Amy! I’ve been to Walt Disney world too, but when I was a kid and would love to go back with my husband and kids! Yes it’s the happiest place all year! Christmas is so much fun. I haven’t been for Halloween time yet and would love to do that when Mason is a little older!
