My husband, Sean, is a teacher and has summers off so we always try to get out and do as much as we can. Last summer, we planned a last minute trip in July. My family was going on vacation and invited us, but we would have had a long flight and I didn’t want to do that at the time with Mason. We decided that while they were gone we would go on a road trip to Disneyland. It’s a long drive and I really don’t like driving on the freeway, especially when it’s busy so we had this crazy idea to start our drive at night so Mason could sleep in the car. Sean started the drive and we took turns driving and sleeping. I drove in the middle of the night during the one lane highway parts where there aren’t many cars except for semi trucks. That’s always my favorite part. It started to get hard towards the morning, but it was such a fun experience driving through the whole night. We drove by a place called Bravo Farms on the way and decided it would be a cool place to stop. It was a shopping area and restaurant that looked like an old western town and they had a playground are that was an old town which was perfect for Mason to run around and play for a while. They had all different kinds of flavors of milk too like orange, caramel, lemon, banana, etc. It was a really fun spot to find.

It was nice that we got to our hotel in Anaheim early in the day because then we were able to spend time at Downtown Disney. Unfortunately they were remodeling a lot of Downtown this time, but we still have a lot of fun there. I was so excited to take to Mason to Disneyland again especially now that he’s a little bigger and can enjoy more things. There was a new stand in California Adventure that had lemon soft serve and I just had to try it. I love everything lemon and this was so delicious. It was the perfect thing to help us cool off in the hot weather. We got the one that was layered with blue slushee and Mason loved it too. There were some rides that Sean and I took turns going on like screamin, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Space Mountain. We were able to take Mason on a lot though! He rode Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Toy Story Mania, and a few other too! We also took him to get pictures with all of the Star Wars characters which was a lot of fun. Although he didn’t like it very much.

My favorite part of this trip was watching the parade with Mason. We got our favorite hand dipped corn dogs and bought Toy Story alien light and found a great spot to watch the parade. It was the Paint the Night Parade which is a long one with tons of lights, music, and characters walking around and dancing. Mason loved it and I loved watching him be so interested in it.

On our way back home we stopped at Bravo Farms again to let Mason play because it was such a cool place. We didn’t really plan out stops. We would just stop when we needed gas or food. We ended up being next to an Anderson’s split pea soup restaurant around dinner time and I remember grandma talking about that place so we decided to eat there. I’ve never been a fan of split pea soup, but this place was so delicious that even Mason loved it. Now we decided we have to stop there whenever we can on road trips. This road trips was definitely one of my favorites and I can’t wait to go back to Disneyland with Mason again to see all the new things, eat all the new food, and now we’ll get to experience all of that with Avery too!

  1. Bravo farms looks like a great place to stop by. I think driving through the night when you have little ones is worth the pain! It has to better than singing nursery rhymes and answering the ‘Are we nearly there yet?’ question every ten minutes! Sound as though you had a great trip. What a lovely family you look too. Beautiful son. 😘

    1. Thank you! I think even though it was hard, it was fun and I would definitely want to drive through the night again! And I would recommend stopping at bravo farms to anyone driving through that area!

  2. It sounds like an amazing trip! What a cool little western area (Bravo Farms) that sounds like a fun place to check out. I’m not sure I would like the orange milk lol. That is so great that you get to visit Disney so often, I hope one day our little family can go too.

    1. Thank you! 🙂 I would recommend stopping there to anyone driving through that area! It was a cute area. Haha I wanted to try a flavored milk just for fun, but ended up just getting the chocolate! It was the best chocolate milk though!
