Halloween is coming up in a few days and it’s a really great time for kids to be creative and have fun. When my husband and I first met and were dating, we would go to haunted houses and watch a scary movie. We would also go to pumpkin patches and do the corn mazes which were always fun. Now we have two little boys and it makes the holidays even more fun.

We started out our celebrations by making Halloween cookies. I got matching pumpkin shirts for the boys and some decorations like a tablecloth and napkins. We had Halloween cookie cutters and got orange frosting to decorate the cookies. Mason had a lot of fun decorating his cookies.

The second thing we did was go to the pumpkin patch. We were able to go twice this year and had so much fun. We went to a local farm where they have animals, we took a hay ride, and we got a couple pumpkins. Mason was so cute exploring and looking for the perfect pumpkin. We went home and took all the seeds out. I made two batches of seeds this year. We made a garlic salt which was really good and I tried a sweet one made with cinnamon. Then we carved one of the pumpkins. I looked up pictures online and we found a printout to make a paw patrol carving. Sean carved it for him it turned out really well. Mason was so excited about it and loves looking out on the deck to see it.

This is the first year Mason has a real costume because I wasn’t sure about taking him trick or treating before. He was really little and wasn’t really interested. This year I showed him some costumes and he picked Marshall from Paw Patrol. He put it on as soon as it came in the mail and was so excited about it. I got a hedgehog costume for Avery and he’s really cute in it. We saw there was a Harvest Festival happening really close to us at a local church so we decided to take the kids. It seems there’s a lot of events this year on different dates. Some on actual Halloween and a lot the Friday before. I wanted to go to a carnival with the kids so Mason could play games and do activities. Plus it’s all inside which is really nice. The one we went to was a lot of fun, but it was so busy and really chaotic. Mason got overwhelmed at first, but eventually found some stuff he wanted to do. He did a cupcake walk and got a gummy worm cupcake which he loved. His favorite game was a fishing one where you throw your fishing line over a wall and when you feel a tug like you caught something, you pull it back over and there’s candy attached. It was so much fun to watch him play and have fun.

  1. I have always loved Halloween. Our neighborhood is filled with kids, so it is always loud and exciting. I keep thinking my kids (they are teens) will want to stay home and give out candy, but they aren’t there yet! They love the festivities still.

    1. Thank you! I was so happy we could find a stencil for it, I can’t freehand very well, and I love how it turned out!!

  2. Beautiful pictures! It is so much fun to be able to share in these fun holidays with our kids. My kids are quite a bit older than yours, so we’ve been enjoying the haunted houses. But I can remember when they were that young, like it was yesterday. Enjoy your babies!

  3. Halloween is definitely fun for the kids. My boys are 9, 4 and 2 and this was the first time my 2 year old was really into Trick or Treating. He had so much fun and walked for about 1 1/2 hours.
