Buttermilk pancakes with fun toppings

Pancakes are a favorite in our house and we make them most weekends! We especially love using the Kodiak cakes mixes because they have protein! We love the honey and oat and chocolate ones. The ones we made today are buttermilk and they’re delicious. One thing that’s really fun about pancakes is that there are so many options for toppings. Today we used bananas, chocolate chips, Halloween sprinkles, and syrup. You can also use fresh berries, whipped cream, jam, honey, peanut butter and more.

Mason had so much fun being able to choose his own toppings and add them to his pancakes by himself. At first, he only wanted two chocolate chips. I added the syrup for him so it wasn’t too messy. Then he ate the bananas by themselves. Avery had fun getting to join in on the pancake fun too. He’s six months old now and has been eating purees for a few weeks, but he tried a small piece of pancake. He was so excited to hold it and chew on it.

I know we’ll be making pancakes again soon so I like to make sure I’m stock up on the necessities! I always have a big box of mix, syrup, and chocolate chips. Then I like to pick up fresh fruit while I’m at the grocery store close to the weekend. It’s always important to have something like baby wipes or a wet towel ready too if you have little kids. The syrup is really sticky and can easily get messy! I think next time we make pancakes, we’ll try pancake art! We need Sean home to do that though because he’s better at it. He made Mason a dinosaur before!

We love celebrating everything we can and I especially love to cook for holidays that involve food! We’ll be making pancakes again on September 26th! Don’t forget to celebrate, share your fun pancake pictures, and check out other fun holidays too!
